Website Migration

Moving a website might seem complicated, but it's an important skill for any webmaster to learn. Whether you’re switching to a faster server or rebranding your business, it’s essential to know how to transfer your site’s data safely. In our Digital Marketing Course in Delhi, we stress that a smooth migration helps keep your SEO rankings steady and maintains user trust.

This guide will show you an easy way to migrate your site using the All-in-One WP Migration plugin.

Why Migrate Your Site?

Many site owners move their sites because their current hosting isn’t keeping up. Slow sites can hurt your search rankings. Switching to better hosting can improve your Core Web Vitals, which we focus on in our Digital Marketing Course in Delhi to help students get their projects ranked on Google’s first page.

Step 1: Get Your Old Site Ready

First, create a backup file from your current site.

Install the Plugin: Log into your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New, and search for All-in-One WP Migration. Install and activate it.
Export Your Data: Click the plugin icon in the sidebar and choose Export.
Choose ‘File’: Select “Export To” then pick “File.” This will package your database, images, plugins, and themes into a single .Wordpress file.
Download: After it’s done, download this file to your computer.

Step 2: Prepare the New Site

Next, set up where the site will move to.

Install WordPress: Get a fresh WordPress installed on your new hosting.
Add the Plugin: Just like before, install the All-in-One WP Migration plugin on this clean site.
Import Your File: Go to Import and drag the .Wordpress file into the box.
Overwrite Warning: A popup will tell you it’s going to replace the empty site with your old data. Click Proceed.

Step 3: Important Checks After Migration

Many people stop here, but this step is crucial to avoid SEO issues.

Update Permalinks: Go to Settings > Permalinks. Without changing anything, click Save Changes twice. This resets your URLs and helps prevent “404 Not Found” errors.
Check Keywords: Make sure your metadata and focus keywords, like “Digital Marketing Course in Delhi,” transferred correctly in your SEO plugin (Yoast or Rank Math).

Why Learning This Matters

Migrating a site isn’t just about moving files—it’s about keeping all the work you’ve done intact. Handling these technical steps well is what turns a casual blogger into a professional digital marketer.
